“Failure to plan is planning to fail” – Ben Franklin

First, we must come up with a plan. The plan doesn’t have to be perfect; we will change the plan as needed. We need some basic guidelines to adhere to. You will know what your plan should look like. Follow your gut, it is probably right. We usually know the steps that we must take to accomplish a goal we have had our eyes on for some time. The plan is important because it gives us a roadmap that we can use to take us to the king. When developing a plan, you should anticipate the difficulties ahead and how to work around them. Remember, your plan is fluid and will change as needed; don’t stress yourself out about having a perfect plan. We will figure out more details as we move further along in our journey. Your plan should have a date to reevaluate and it should be flexible. The ability to change directions is important, especially when you are in uncharted territory. Finally, your plan should have milestones built into it. You want to track the progress of your plan to keep the momentum moving forward.

“You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it.”- Charles Buxton

Now it is time to see where this plan fits into your life. Every major business or brand has a schedule that they follow. Clearly, having a schedule adds to success. Every job I had was operated under a schedule and a protocol that you follow for efficiency. We will borrow the scheduling tactic from those more successful than us and create a schedule. Are you a morning person or a night person? Are your customers more active in the middle of the day? When do you have more free time to work on yourself? Questions like the ones prior and many more should be considered before your schedule is complete. Give yourself a few hours a day to work on your goals and side hustles. Turn off all distractions during scheduled activities for optimal results. Put your phone on silent, log out of your social media, and lock yourself in a room. Your scheduled time is sacred and must be treated sacred. Commit to this time block that you set for self, do NOT skip your time. Simply go through the motions if you believe you are too tired to complete your task. It is better to build the habit of doing the things you scheduled instead of being perfect. Sometimes it is going to suck but be a man/woman of your word to yourself.

Now its time to put it all together. You have your plan, you have your schedule, now its time to get to work. Your work ethic will determine the bulk of your success. Hustling isn’t always fun, but it is always worth it.  Remember, we don’t hustle for vanity, rather we hustle to become who we envision. Take pride in your hard work and your ability to stick with a plan. Stay consistent throughout your hustle mode. You will fall off and that is cool if you get back up quickly. Keep your goal and your plans at the top of your mind. There are many ways to keep your hustle strong. You can find an accountability partner, go public with your plans, or review your performance at the end of every day. All the planning and scheduling will be for not if you don’t hustle. Accomplishments do not begin until the work is put in.

Let us build a working, flexible plan that we can put into a schedule. Take that schedule and commit to it. You may fall off but get back up quickly. Keep your goal and plans at the top of mind. Now hustle, work your schedule and take pride in your time. Do NOT short yourself because you are tired or feeling lazy. You owe it to yourself to go after the life that you want.
