Be Selfish to Love Yourself

Success takes intense focus. If you want to accomplish your goals will make your goals a priority. Don’t let people take you away from your focus. You can not be absorbed in concepts, activities that do not matter. For example, if you are writing a book you should not be distracted from writing because your website isn’t pretty You shouldn’t let your wife guilt you for being in the office so much. When it is time to do the most beneficial tasks, you do it. Don’t look for busy work get busy on work. People can deter focus too. A person close to you may say you work all the time. You never have time for anything else. Fuck those people. You need to have a powerful internal drive and a concrete goal to stop people from throwing you off your path. Does that make you selfish? It might but that’s essential for great accomplishments.

Nobody will care about your success as much as you. Does it shock you that someone will call you selfish for working on yourself? They want your attention even though they see you working, grinding, and hustling. It is your responsibility to set your boundaries and make your intentions clear. You may be supported by the people around you, but that support has a limit. You will be supported until supporting you becomes an inconvenience for them. As humans, we like to figure out the easiest way to do things. Your ambitions, work ethic, may cause the people around you to be uncomfortable. For that reason, we must make the decision to be FOCUSED ahead of time. I don’t know why its like this, but as hustlers we must deal with it. Common resistance you will get is, “that’s all you care about” “You are selfish”. Don’t give that any weight. At the end of the day, this is your life and you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. Do not allow anything to stop you from becoming your best self.

This may be difficult for some because you are trying to better yourself for other people. This is a big no-no. It feels nice to be motivated and to make other people your main motivation. This is shaky ground to build an empire on. Extrinsic motivation will fail most of the time. Let’s say you make your motivation your wife. You are building a life and future together. You are working hard and then she cheats on you. If she was your main motivation, do you really believe that you will follow through? Most people don’t. Most people get depressed and start to question the point of all the hard work they were doing. What would you do? Let’s avoid this and bring motivation from yourself. You have to be selfish here. When setting your why and your goals it must be about you.

Hustla’s make shit happen. Stop depending on others, you aren’t a child anymore. Its time to take responsibility for all your actions and the outcomes. Big goals take intense focus and intense focus takes selfishness. Learn to prioritize your goals and objectives before anything else. You can make time for the people in your life but only after you have done focused work for the day. This takes courage and strength but I believe you can do it.
